Live more Consciously

To become all you can be, you must live more consciously. You must become more alert, more aware and more awake. You must take more control over your thought process so that the combines power of the various mental laws is moving you  in the direction of your own choosing rather than steering you blindly on a form of mental autopilot.

As you stand back and appreciate the incredibly complex, interconnected events that have brought you to where you are in life right now, you will begin to develop the perspective of the philosopher, of the superior intellect. You begin to superimpose on your experience what is called a “sense of coherence”, an attitude and a feeling that your life is part of something greater that yourself and that everything  fits together and happens for a reason.

As you think of your life as a series of events and experiences that are conspiring toward your achieving some great goal or making some great contribution to mankind, you begin to develop a “sense of destiny”, the hallmark of potential greatness as a human being.

Psychozoic Age

Power-your-subconscious-mind

We have passed from a world based on material limitations into a world that is determined by mental concepts. We have moved from the age of things into the “Psychozoic Age”, the age of the mind. Wealth and opportunities are contained more in the person you are and the way you think than in the assets you have acquired in life so far. Your future lies more in your ability to apply your mind and intelligence to your work and your life than it does in your current job or situation.

To achieve something you’ve never achieved before, you will have to think in ways you have never thought before.

Throughout your life, you must constantly thinking about all the things you can do, in every area, to increase the probabilities that you will be successful in achieving your goals. You should leave nothing to chance. You should refuse to wish or hope, or trust to luck. You must take control of your situation. You are responsible.

The Practice of Acceptance

Unknown

Though there are occasions when a firm hand is needed, I learned early that one of the most important qualities of a leader is listening without judgment, or with what Buddhist call bare attention.

In The Tao of Leadership, John Heider writes:

The wise leader is of service, yielding, following. The group member’s vibration dominates and leads, while the leader follows. But soon it is the member’s consciousness which is transformed. It is the job of the leader to be aware of the group member’s process; it is the need of the group member to be received and paid attention to. Both get what they need if the leader has the wisdom to serve and follow.

In Zen it is said that the gap between accepting things the way they are and wishing them to be otherwise is “the tenth of an inch of difference between heaven and hell”. If we can accept whatever hand we’ve been dealt – no matter how unwelcome – the way to proceed eventually becomes clear. This is what is meant by right action: the capacity to observe what’s happening and act appropriately, without being distracted by self-centered thoughts. If we rage and resist, our angry, fearful minds have trouble quieting down sufficiently to allow us to act in the most beneficial way for ourselves and others.

Life is a Tennis Match

Quote

Andre Agassi Holding a Tennis Racket

Life is a tennis match between polar opposites. Winning and losing, love and hate, open and closed. It helps to recognize that painful fact early. Then recognize the polar opposites within yourself, and if you can’t embrace them, or reconcile them, at least accept them and move on. The only thing you cannot do is ignore them.

Overcoming Arrogance

“What I know makes me money. What I don’t know loses me money. Every time I have been arrogant, I have lost money. Because when I’m arrogant, I truly believe that what I don’t know is not important,” rich dad would often tell me.

I have found that many people use arrogance to try to hide their own ignorance.

When you know you are ignorant in a subject, start educating yourself by finding an expert in the field or a book on the subject.

Having no money should not be an excuse to not learn. But that is a choice we all make daily: the choice of what we do with our time, our money, and what we put in our heads. That is the power of choice. All of us have choice.

Invest first in education. In reality, the only real asset you have is your mind, the most powerful tool we have domination over. Each of us have the choice of what we put in our brain once we’re old enough.

A truly intelligent person welcomes new ideas, for new ideas can add to the synergy of other accumulated ideas. Listening is more important than talking.

Too many people think with their mouth instead of listening in order to absorb new ideas and possibilities. They argue instead of asking questions.

Twelve Steps to Set and Achieve Any Goal

Quote

th-2

  1. Step number one is to have a desire. You must have an intense, burning desire for your particular goal.
  2. Believe. You must absolutely believe, deep in your heart, that you deserve the goal and that you are capable of attaining it.
  3. The third step to goal achievement is for you to write it down. A goal that is not in writing is not a goal at all.
  4. Analyze your starting point.
  5. Decide why you want a particular goal in the first place. Make a list of all the ways that you will personally benefit by achieving that goal.
  6. Set a deadline. If your goal is big enough, break your deadline down into sub deadlines. When you break down your goals into daily and hourly amounts and activities, you will be astonished at how much more you get done.
  7. Determine the obstacles that are standing between you and your goal. You can apply the 80/20 Rule to the obstacles and difficulties blocking you from achieving your goals. This rule says that, in most cases, 80 percent of the reasons you are not attaining your goals are internal. They are within you rather than in the world around you. Only 20 percent of the obstacles are contained in your external situation or in other people.
  8. Determine the additional knowledge, information, and skills you will require to achieve your goal.
  9. Determine the people whose cooperation and assistance you will need. Relationships are everything.
  10. Make a plan to achieve your goal. A plan is an organized list of tasks that you will have to complete to get from where you are to where you want to go. A plan is a list of activities organized by time, sequence, and importance.
  11. Visualize your goal each day as if it were already attained. Imagine the pride, satisfaction, and happiness you would experience if you were already the person you wanted to be, with the goal that you want to enjoy.
  12. Back everything you do with persistence and determination. Resolve in advance that you will never give up. You must decide, in advance, that nothing will stop you. Then, when you face the inevitable obstacles and difficulties that occur, you will be psychologically prepare. You will bounce rather than break.

Let It Go

Quote

Let-It-Go

The fact is that your life will be a continuous series of problems, difficulties, setbacks, and temporary failures. These unexpected and unwanted reversals and disappointments are a normal, natural, and unavoidable fact of growing up. To change your thinking and change your life, you must make a decision to get over them and to get on with your life, no matter what happened. Until you do, you remain a slave to the past, which cannot be changed in any case. Make a decision today that, from now on, you are going to eliminate all the “if only’s” from your life.

You discipline yourself to stand back mentally and deal with the problem intelligently. You use your mind to see the situation objectively and make better decisions to resolve it.
